Excellent Walking Shoes, but Be Careful w/ the Size
I really like these shoes. I've owned a pair for a few months and I wear them daily. I have not experienced any of the deterioration that some other reviewers have noted.

I bought my first pair of these shoes about a week before I was going on a vacation that involved a great deal of walking. They provided me w/ a great level of comfortable support during this vacation, even on days that involved walking for 8+ hours. I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone needing a pair of walkers. HOWEVER, I will agree 100% w/ reviewers that complain about the fit. Merrells run small; to illustrate, I wear a men's 9.5US in almost every brand of shoe. I am a wearing a 8.5US in these Merrells. Additionally, they are a bit more narrow than most shoe brands. The feeling of wearing a shoe that was slightly too narrow for me went away after a couple days of wear. These are a canvas shoe and I'm not sure to what degree canvas stretches, but mine seemed to have stretched. With that in mind, my suggestion to prospective buyers is to go to a brick and mortar shop and try on a pair of Merrells to find the appropriate size for your feet, if you are able. I found a JCPenney that had this shoe in a color I didn't want, but I was able to figure out my size, come back to Amazon, and order the color I wanted.

Instantly comfortable, stylish, great product from Merrell
I've been a fan of Merrell shoes for several years now. My first interaction with them was just before taking a long trip and I needed some new shoes. Typically I would worry that they need breaking in, but I liked the shoes and bought them. They were instantly wearable and comfortable and I wore them 15-days straight for hiking, walking, and general use. That sold me on Merrell.

So when I saw the "rant" style earlier this year I just had to have them. I knew that they would be high quality and immediately wearable and I wasn't disappointed.

The basic parts of the shoe are stitched canvas with black leather accents. The canvas is a really cool grey / sand colour and the leather is pitch black. Grommets accent the sides and give the shoe a little bit of an industrial feel, which I like. The words that come to mind are "machine tooled" - I don't know why.

The shoe conformed to my feet (I have one foot slightly longer than the other one), and I did not experience any rubbing discomfort from the heel which can sometimes happen with low riding shoes.

They are attractive, stylish, and most importantly comfortable right out of the box. No breaking in time for Merrell from what I've experienced.

As with my previous Merrell's, these get a full 5 stars for product quality, durability in many environments (wet / dry / flat surface / rough surface), and style!

Comfortable casual shoe

I gave this shoe 5-stars because of its comfort. A great shoe for wearing around the house or just walking around--very lightweight. I also like the off-white "natural" color.

I would gladly recommend these for anyone who wants an old style pair of sneakers--only better.

So far so good

I've worn it for about 4 times now and it feels comfortable for walking or light running.

The only complaint I have is when I kneel on one knee and bend my feet at the toes (usually when I try to help my 5 year old son on something). Maybe because I have not broken the shoes in yet.

Other than that, I love the youthful style as well and the color matches perfectly with my jeans and Patagonia winter jacket.

I love these shoes

I love these shoes!! Great style and fit. Takes a little while to break them in, but these are solid shoes nonetheless. love love love.

Side-note: They don't breathe at all, so if you've got stinky feet to begin with, these shoes will hotbox the crap out of them and your feet may end up smelling like a fermented swamp-thing.

Awesome Hipster Style!

Got these for my 15-year-old son. He's got a retro-hipster look going. These are great. He really likes them! Says they are comfortable. They look great with skinny jeans. Decent price, considering he'll outgrow them in 6-9 months. free shipping for Amazon Prime members. Recommend.
