ASICS Men's GEL Venture 5 Running ShoeExcellent walking shoe
I didn't realize until recently that Asics made 4E width running shoes. I've been using NB for 30+ years primarily because of the available widths. Over the past 5 years my NBs have seemed flimsier, providing less support and breaking down earlier than expected, so I was primed to try an alternative. I received these shoes yesterday and wore them around the house for the rest of the day. I took them for a 2 mile walk this morning with no adverse effects.
Some things I noticed comparing to my NB 610s; The Asics feel much sturdier, despite the fact that they are no heavier than my NB, they provide better support. This is the first time I have bought a running shoe that was specifically designed to correct underpronation and I'm very pleased with the result. I feel much more stabilized when I walk. The Venture 5 also provides excellent cushioning. I'm very happy with these Asics. If that changes over the next year, I'll update my review.
I am perfectly happy with these shoes
I am perfectly happy with these shoes. I walk/run in a local preserve which includes many roots as well as soft slippery soil. They are very comfortable as is but I did remove and insert my own insoles. I am 6'3" 190 #'s and this is one size larger than I normally wear. I tried them on in a local store before purchasing them here to make sure I got the correct fit. My walk/run is 6 miles four days a week and so far so good. I will be transitioning to some payment and will update this review if anything changes.
Happy with purchase
Great pair of running shoes, i wear size 11.5 to 12 and these were 12, perfect fit for my narrow feet...folks with wider base may have issues with these sneakers since they are built to be snug and hold you feet in place for running.
Reliable, solid shoes
Got these shoes to fit the active lifestyle I do on a regular basis. Normally I go for the Venture but finding it harder and harder to find a 15 4E and found these which is pretty much the same shoe. They grip exceptionally well on lava rock here in Utah, and the sandstone they feel like velcro.
The shoes are solid much better than my previous NB shoes however these shoes just have an outstanding reputation. My previous Ventures lasted almost 1.5 years and I am no small weenie of a guy I am 6ft 6" around 250,hike, bike, backpack,golf, play tennis, disc golf and work in the hospitality industry.
