Sorel Women's Winter Carnival Boot
A WINTER NECESSITY!!
I am SO happy I got these! I was a little late on the snow boot bandwagon but with the most recent blizzard (I live in New England) and two kids who like playing in the snow, I scoured the web looking for Sorel boots. I was looking for the Joan of Arctic style, but none were available in my size, so I took a chance on these. And I'm glad I did. They are super comfortable, SUPER WARM, and even kind of springy (like I could run in the comfortably).
Regarding sizing, definitely size down. I am usually a size EU39 in everything, which usually correlates to a US9. If there is a discrepancy, I always go based on EU sizing. I referred to the Sorel website sizing guide (I included a photo of the size chart in this review) and chose the size based on my foot measurements. My foot is 24.5cm (~9.5") so I bought a size 8 (based on the chart, size 8 (EU39) was good for a 25cm long foot) and they fit perfectly! For reference, the boot itself measures about 11" long, but be aware that there is an inner liner that add some cushioning and thickness. I did not have any issues with rubbing on the back of my ankle like some of the other reviews, but I did notice that if you don't pull up on the inner liner when you put the boot on, the liner could bunch up and cause a wrinkle that might rub. Also, if tied the laces TOO tight, I noticed a tiny bit of rubbing in the back of the ankle. They go up to about mid calf and kind of remind me of snow boarding boots (but a little less clunky). They are a little difficult to drive in since the ankle part doesn't bed easily, but its a small sacrifice for being warm and toasty in the snow.
Fit well, Just need to be broken in
After reading the other reviews, I decided to order a size 8 when I typically wear a size 8.5. There is plenty of room left in the boot for thick socks and with the lacing, you can wear them slightly looser if you need to. I was cautious about the ankle rubbing that a lot of reviews mentioned. I wore them around the house for a few hours and definitely felt the rubbing, but then I wore them to work the next day and after 8 hours, the rubbing had stopped and now they fit just fine. I was looking for a cute feminine looking snow boot and these fit the bill!
Wonderful Forever Boots
These boots are wonderful. I get compliments. My feet stay warm and dry. As other reviewers have mentioned, they do rub against my ankle a bit, but not nearly as bad as most other new shoes (which always need breaking in); I didn't need a band-aid or anything. For me, they ended up being true to size (I’m 8.5, and I got the 8.5). I have wider feet and high arches. They do look a bit big, but they don’t feel big; however, someone commented that they are heavy, and I agree, but I got used to it and they even have a bounce to them when I walk. Hopefully they will last me forever, or at least 10 years.
Classic winter boot with a modern color scheme
I've always wanted a pair of these but this color scheme made me go for it. Well made, very high quality materials, durable and warm.
